Day 19

Bonjour from Calais!

It’s cold. It’s wet. And it’s definitely not Greece, but we love it!

We spent the day getting to know our new little town full of bakeries and cafes. So french! Post-chocolate croissants, eclairs, & macaroons, we bought our groceries for the week in preparation for our exciting new project in the Jungle!

So what’s the Jungle?

It’s the biggest refugee slum in Europe, and it just so happens to be in Calais, France. It’s a makeshift refugee camp made by the refugees themselves.

Why Calais?

It’s the closest distance from the U.K. in which a large majority of refugees wish to seek asylum.

Just a 45 min. walk from our apartment, we are anxiously awaiting to meet more fellow humans tomorrow, sharing their stories from within the Jungle.
